Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Your 5-day Rwanda gorilla safari begins with your arrival at Kigali International Airport. You’ll be warmly welcomed by your guide who will provide you with an introduction to Rwanda’s rich culture and history. After you will have a transfer to Volcanoes National Park. The scenic drive through the Rwandan countryside offers breathtaking views of rolling hills and lush landscapes. Upon arrival at the park, you’ll check in to your lodge and have some time to relax. In the afternoon, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, where you can interact with local communities and learn about their traditional way of life. This cultural experience provides insights into the region’s heritage and traditions.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking
After a delicious breakfast, you’ll depart for Volcanoes National Park headquarters for a briefing. After you’ll embark on a gorilla trekking adventure. Led by experienced guides, you’ll hike through the dense forest, following the trail of one of the habituated gorilla families. Once you locate them, you’ll spend a precious hour in their presence, observing their behaviors and interactions. This intimate encounter offers a rare opportunity to connect with these gentle giants in their natural habitat. The trekking duration can vary, but the rewards of seeing these magnificent creatures up close are immeasurable. Return to your lodge for relaxation and dinner overnight.
Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park
After an early breakfast, you’ll head to Nyungwe Forest National Park situated in the southwestern part of Rwanda, known for its diverse primate populations. Enjoy the scenic drive through the highs and lows of Rwanda.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking
As your gorilla experience continues to resonate, you’ll have another unforgettable adventure lined up and that is chimpanzee trekking. After an early breakfast, you’ll head to Nyungwe Forest National Park headquarters for briefing, the chimpanzee trek takes you through dense forests and offers the chance to spot other primates and bird species along the way. Once you find a chimpanzee group, you’ll have the chance to watch them swing through the trees, communicate, and forage for food. This encounter provides valuable insights into the lives of these intelligent and social animals. Return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation
Day 5: Return to Kigali for Departure
On your final day, you can enjoy a leisurely morning at your lodge, reflecting on the incredible wildlife encounters you’ve had during your Rwanda gorilla safari. After checking out, you’ll embark on a journey back to Kigali. Depending on your departure time, you might have the opportunity for some last-minute souvenir shopping or a visit to local markets. Your guide will drop you off at the airport, where you’ll bid farewell to this enchanting country, taking with you memories of gorilla and chimpanzee encounters that will last a lifetime.
